Streamline the Data Cable Testing Process with Instant Test Reports

For technicians who install and maintain data cabling, proving performance with test reports is an essential, yet lengthy, and often, complex process. Thanks to the all new SignalTEK® CT from IDEAL Networks however, what was once the time-consuming task of creating a test report, can now be generated digitally, in an instant.

How do SignalTEK CT's Instant Data Cable Test Reports Work?

The SignalTEK CT can generate digital test reports instantly, giving you a way of proving that installed links run at recommended Gigabit Ethernet transmission rates whilst on site. In addition, the SignalTEK CT can produce test reports in either PDF or CSV format, depending on user preference. The summary page of each report can even be customised to include logo, company and operator details. Technicians also have the choice between 3 different report formats; summary (list of each test with pass or fail); brief (summary data per test) and full (one test per page with full test details).

Easily Share Data Cable Test Reports

Cable installers and IT Technicians can now share difficult problems with colleagues not located onsite to improve productivity and minimise downtime, using the free IDEAL AnyWARE™ app. By connecting the app to your IDEAL cable or network tester using Wi-Fi it's possible to transfer test reports to your mobile device. Once data is transferred, users can view the reports and send them using their preferred method, including email or file sharing app. Reports can also be sent to the client as soon as the job is complete, demonstrating proof of performance. The hassle of connecting to local Wi-Fi is eliminated to provide a superior user experience because the IDEAL tester serves as a Wi-Fi hotspot. In addition to the SignalTEK CT, the IDEAL AnyWARE app is also supported by the SignalTEK® NT, NaviTEK® NT and LanTEK® III.

Clients and Colleagues are Informed at Every Step

For cable installers and IT technicians, the ability to generate instant test reports provides a cost-effective way to demonstrate that the copper cabling was installed correctly and is capable of supporting Ethernet applications. By proving real world performance, SignalTEK CT confirms a professional job - reducing the risk of call backs. SignalTEK CT also gives network owners the assurance that installed cabling will support bandwidth hungry services like VoIP, IP CCTV and video streaming following moves, adds and changes. Cabling systems are the bridges that transport information between various points in a network – from source to receiver. Ensuring that this network is functioning at its optimum levels means confirming that the cables are performing well.

To do that, a solid understanding of what to look for when measuring cabling performance is essential.

Beyond finding faults in components or installation workmanship, the other important element is to determine the true performance of an installed data cabling system. Because performance of LAN cabling is not a function of safety, most governmental jurisdictions do not require 3rd party testing to ensure that products provide the level of performance shown on the packaging or marketing literature.
